Collaborative Initiatives

The Greater Cabarrus Foundation (GCF) is dedicated to fostering collaborative initiatives that tackle the most pressing needs in the community. We achieve this by convening a diverse group of public and private stakeholders to work together on solutions. A core part of our mission is helping to build the organizational capacity of agencies that provide valuable services to their clients.

Our efforts are guided and aligned with both current and future community needs based on the Community Needs Assessment produced by the Cabarrus Health Alliance.

Interagency Consulting Services

The Greater Cabarrus Foundation provides structured, collaborative support that helps nonprofits assess where they are, solve challenges, and plan for sustainable impact. These services are offered at no cost and are designed to enhance organizational effectiveness and long-term success.

1) Organizational Review

The Organizational Review is a focused, one-day assessment led by a three-person consulting team blends professional expertise with peer perspective. The process includes an agency self-assessment, onsite discovery, and a follow-up recommendations report; giving leaders clear, practical next steps.

What this helps you do:

  • See strengths and gaps with fresh eyes
  • Prioritize near-term fixes and long-term improvements
  • Align leadership and board around a shared plan

2) Board Matching

The Board Matching Service bridges the gap between individuals who are eager to serve and nonprofits seeking skilled and committed board members. GCF provides comprehensive training for individuals interested in serving on nonprofit boards. We then work to match those who complete the training to local agencies that are recruiting new board members.

What this helps you do:

  • Diversify and strengthen your board
  • Fill priority roles with mission-aligned talent
  • Enhance board performance through trained members

3) Board Education

The Board Education Service is specifically tailored for existing board members who wish to enhance their governance skills and knowledge. This service is designed to address the specific organizational needs of the nonprofit.

What this helps you do:

  • Clarify roles, responsibilities, and oversight
  • Improve fiduciary and strategic governance
  • Build a culture of accountability and impact

4) Agency Professional Development

We invest in the people who power our nonprofits through Agency Professional Development; expanding skills that drive innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence. Stronger staff capacity translates to stronger outcomes for Cabarrus County residents.

What this helps you do:

  • Strengthen core competencies across teams
  • Improve service quality and coordination
  • Sustain impact through continuous learning
“The strength I see is the cohesiveness of having a single financial umbrella and the giving driven by the assessment of local needs and local leaders who are best suited to understand those needs.”
